Twist on Cancer:
Getting cancer in my 20s is not something I expected. And that changed my entire outlook on how I want to spend my time. I don’t waste time thinking about why not; I now focus on making my dreams come true.

Artist Statement: Venessa inspires me in a way I couldn’t have prepared for. She took her cancer experience and said, “Now I’m going to LIVE.” I created a painting for an incredible woman who is even more than a cancer survivor. Now, she follows her dream and pilots around the world. She’s pioneering the flight industry with her story, bravery, and passion. How fitting it is to have the color of the sky accompany the journey that these abstract movements take. Her favorite colors, green and pink, represent her perfectly. Do you notice where the pink is in this piece? Venessa’s story is one that leaves her cancer in the dust. It’s there, but isn’t what defines her. Instead, the green of going, of moving, of health, of thriving, take front seat here. And even when the shades are dark, she is forever MOVING FORWARD.
